A Birthday Note for My Girl..

Twenty years has passed since I heard you cried for the first time in your life.  I remember that bright Sunday morning, you were finally brought to the world after a long sleepless and painful night.  Seeing you in my arm, all my pain went to the air...you were such a miracle growing inside me.

We named you ‘Dalila Husna Yunardi’, with the hope and the prayer for you to become a direction of many good things in your life ahead.

You were the first that has brought me to become a mother, and a father to your Dad.  You were the first for the late Abu Chik,  Mak, and Nenek to become grandparents.  You were the first niece for the late Bundacut and Abit, also for all the siblings of your dad, and later on,  you became the big sister for the two younger brothers born years after you.  Most of all, you join the club of me and daddy to become the first child in the family.  It’s weird, isn’t it ?

You and I have grown up together. You are as a daughter and me as a mother.  We have been through so many different things, in sadness and in happiness.  You have been there for me when I was studying in Canada by being so cooperative in early years of your life.  You were such a joy for your dad and me as young parents, when we were living over there.

You also have been there for me when I was studying in Leeds many years later.  I never forget the days when you had to take care of your brothers, while daddy and I had to stay late in campus.  I could never thank you enough for being very helpful during the hard time we faced after the tremendous loss of our relatives.

There were also times when we fought over different ideas.  In these times, you started to think what were best for you rather than to accept all my ideas that I thought were best for you.

And now, here we are.   I am studying (again) in Leeds, and you are also studying abroad.  No matter how far the distance between us right now, I believe we are staying close in our hearts.   You are now no longer a teenager.  You are a high self esteem and a hard working woman.  I am so proud to have you as my daughter.  I never stop praying for you to become a shalihah woman full of happiness in your life.  I pray to Allah that you will be having a great family of your own when the time comes.  (Who knows, it may not be so long from now  -*winks*).

You may not recall all of your birthdays from your first year, but this is the first birthday you have without me around you.  This may be a remark of your adulthood life.., also for me to remember that you are now a grown up woman.

Happy birthday k lila, hope you are having a good time with your friend in the island. Wishing you always the very best things in your life...  Cant wait to see you. ..this summer

With lots of love,

Mum
